THE SEQUENCE NUXTRE

Big Val does a sequence before every match and won't play without it (she won't tell you what it is, either). This isn't hers. It's a sequence, and she'll teach you one a match in her Trophy Room — VISOR, KNUCKLES, STRETCH, BREATHE, TEMPLE ("it's in here"), "SCOREBOARD." She shows it; you do it back on six big arcade buttons. Each match is longer (four moves to thirteen) and quicker, and matches seven and eight go the way the final of '03 went: backwards. A wrong move is a chapter — every loss is a chapter — and three chapters end the bout. Ten matches. The ticker says the Tape is coming soon.
