THE LINEUP NUXTRE
Curtis Dunmore's nine milks bat in his order — whole cold leading off (.400), chocolate cleaning up (debated), warm milk closing — for nine innings against Lance Vantage on the mound, who says he is not trying and is trying. Swing when the ball reaches the plate: the nearer the moment, the further it goes. Each milk has its own way (skim gets a fourth strike; buttermilk swings late and is right to). Curtis calls every pitch. Somewhere after the fifth, Lance may throw one that looks like THE BALL. Curtis will not describe it.
