About
LibreCAD is a free, open-source 2D computer-aided design program for technical drawings, floor plans, schematics and parts for laser cutting. It started from the community edition of QCAD and offers a familiar drafting toolset: lines, arcs and polylines, layers, blocks, dimensions, object snaps and a command line for typed commands. DXF is its native format, and its own libdxfrw library lets it open DWG files as well. Drawings can be printed to scale or exported to PDF, SVG and image formats. The program is small, starts quickly even on older computers and is translated into many languages. It works in two dimensions only and has no 3D tools. Builds for Windows, macOS and Linux are published on the project's GitHub releases page.
- 2D drafting with layers, blocks and dimensions
- Native DXF, with DWG reading
- Command line for typed commands
- Export to PDF, SVG and image files
- Small and quick on older computers
Before you download
- 2D only; there are no 3D modelling tools.
- The Apple-silicon Mac build is not signed, so macOS may report the app as damaged; the project's README explains the workaround.
