About
Kdenlive is a free, open-source non-linear video editor developed by the KDE community and built on the MLT framework, FFmpeg and Qt. It offers unlimited video and audio tracks, three-point and multi-camera editing, and a large set of effects and transitions whose parameters can be animated with keyframes. For heavy footage it can create low-resolution proxy clips for smooth editing while still rendering the final video at full quality, and it can pre-render sections of the timeline for fluid playback. Other tools include a title editor, Glaxnimate integration for vector animation, audio and colour scopes, automatic project backups, and subtitle generation and translation using the Whisper and VOSK speech-recognition models. It runs on Linux, Windows and macOS and is aimed at hobbyists, video creators and independent filmmakers who prefer free software.
