About
PotPlayer is a free Windows media player published by Kakao (formerly Daum) and originally written by Kang Yong-Huee, who also created KMPlayer. It ships with its own decoders, so most video and audio files play without installing a codec pack, and it can hand decoding to the graphics card through DXVA, CUDA or Intel Quick Sync to keep processor load low on high-resolution video. It is known for an unusually deep settings menu covering renderers, audio output, subtitles and playback behaviour, which suits people who like to fine-tune their setup. Subtitle support is broad, including styled ASS/SSA, SRT, SMI, VobSub and Blu-ray formats. Other options include 3D output modes for 3D TVs and glasses, bookmarks for scenes and chapters, and support for adding codecs through OpenCodec. 32-bit, 64-bit and ARM64 installers are available.
