About

MPC-HC (Media Player Classic - Home Cinema) is a compact, open-source video player for Windows whose interface follows the old Windows Media Player 6.4 style. The original project stopped development in 2017, and the fork maintained by the developer clsid2 has carried it forward since then; it is also the version bundled with K-Lite Codec Pack. It contains LAV Filters internally, so common audio and video formats play without extra codecs, and it stays light on system resources. Enthusiasts value its support for alternative renderers such as MPC Video Renderer and madVR, its extensive subtitle handling and its configurable keyboard and mouse shortcuts. Recent releases added ReplayGain support and better DVB and ATSC channel scanning for TV tuners. The maintainer describes it as mature and concentrates on fixes and refinements rather than large new features.
