About
Jellyfin does the same job as Plex — it organises your films, series and music and streams them to your devices — but it is entirely free and open source, with no accounts, no paid tier and no tracking. Install the server on a PC that stays on, add your folders, and watch from the Jellyfin apps for TVs, phones and browsers. Everything runs on your own hardware; nothing is sent to a company. It asks a little more of you than Plex (some TV apps are community-made, and remote access is something you set up yourself), but it is a favourite of people who want a home theatre that answers only to them.
