CapCut is a video editor from ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, and its desktop edition brings the mobile app's quick, template-driven approach to Windows and macOS. It is geared toward creators making short-form social videos, with a timeline editor and a large library of trending effects, filters, transitions, text styles and music. Automatic captions, aspect-ratio changes that keep the main subject in frame, keyframe animation and basic colour tools cover most everyday editing, and AI features can generate clips or help turn scripts into videos. Projects can be kept in cloud storage and opened on other devices, and finished videos can be shared straight to YouTube. The core editor is free, while a CapCut Pro subscription unlocks premium materials and features. Separate CapCut apps are available for Android, iOS and the web.
