About
Arduino IDE is the official desktop programming environment for Arduino and compatible microcontroller boards. Programs, called sketches, are written in a simplified form of C++, then compiled and uploaded to a board connected over USB from inside the editor. Version 2 rebuilt the application on the Eclipse Theia framework, adding code autocompletion, a debugger for supported boards and a more modern interface. The Boards Manager adds support for other hardware families such as ESP32, and the Library Manager installs community libraries for sensors, displays and motors. A Serial Monitor and Serial Plotter help with testing. It is aimed at students, hobbyists, artists and engineers prototyping electronics, and sketches can optionally be synced with Arduino's online Cloud Editor.
