About
WhatsApp Desktop is the official computer app for Meta's WhatsApp messaging service. It is not a separate account: you register WhatsApp on a phone first and then link the desktop app by scanning a QR code, after which it keeps working even when the phone is switched off or offline. Messages, voice calls and video calls are end-to-end encrypted, and the app supports group chats, photo and document sharing, Status updates and screen sharing during calls. The Windows version is distributed through the Microsoft Store, and the Mac version is a native app that is also listed in the Mac App Store. It suits people who already use WhatsApp on their phone and want to type on a full keyboard or take calls from a computer.
