About
Telegram Desktop is the official computer client for Telegram, the cloud-based messaging service. It is open-source software built with the Qt toolkit, and the same code runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, including a portable Windows build that needs no installation. Because Telegram keeps ordinary chats on its servers, your full message history appears as soon as you sign in and stays in sync with your phone. The app handles one-to-one and group chats, large public channels, bots, voice and video calls, and files of up to 2 GB each (4 GB with a Premium subscription). Several accounts can be used side by side. On a Mac you can choose between this client and a separate native macOS app that Telegram also maintains.
- Chat history synced from the cloud across devices
- Groups, channels and bots
- Voice and video calls
- Large file sharing (2 GB per file, 4 GB with Premium)
- Portable Windows version
Before you download
- Needs a Telegram account tied to a mobile phone number.
- Secret chats (Telegram's end-to-end encrypted mode) are not available in this client; regular chats are encrypted only between device and server.
