About

VMware Workstation Pro is a desktop hypervisor, now owned by Broadcom, for running several virtual machines on one 64-bit Windows or Linux computer. Developers, IT staff and students use it to build test labs, try other operating systems and run software in isolation. Virtual machines can be suspended, snapshotted and cloned, and a virtual network editor lets you set up custom networks between machines and the host. It supports Windows 11 guests through a virtual TPM, provides 3D graphics acceleration for guests and can be driven from the command line for automation. Formerly a paid product, it has been free for all users since November 2024. The equivalent product for Macs is VMware Fusion Pro.

  • Run multiple virtual machines on one PC
  • Snapshots plus linked and full clones
  • Virtual network editor
  • Virtual TPM for Windows 11 guests
  • Command-line tools for automation

Before you download

  • Free for personal use and, since November 2024, for commercial and educational use as well; no licence key is needed, and paid support is no longer sold.
  • Downloading requires signing in to a free Broadcom Support Portal account.
  • Runs on 64-bit Windows and Linux hosts only; Mac users need VMware Fusion Pro instead.
