About
Tailscale joins your own computers, phones and other devices into one small private network, wherever each of them happens to be. You install the app on every device and sign in to the same account; the devices then reach each other over encrypted WireGuard connections, and each gets its own stable address starting with 100. Nothing needs configuring on your router and no port is opened to the internet, which makes it a popular way to reach a home media server, a NAS or a desktop PC while you are away. The free Personal plan covers up to six users with as many of their own devices as they like; paid plans add features for teams and businesses. The core client is open source, while the graphical apps for Windows, macOS and iOS are closed source and the coordination service is run by Tailscale.
- Connects your devices without opening router ports
- Encrypted WireGuard connections between devices
- A stable 100.x address for every device
- Apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS
- Free Personal plan for up to six users
Before you download
- Requires a Tailscale account; every device you connect from needs the app, so it can't help on smart TVs that can't install it.
- Clients send connection logs (not traffic contents) to Tailscale by default; this can be switched off per device, at the cost of support.
- The Windows, macOS and iOS apps are closed source; the core client and the Linux and Android apps are open source.
