About
Steam is Valve's digital distribution platform for PC games. The free client lets you buy, download and update games, keeps your library in one place and syncs cloud saves for supported titles. Social features include a friends list, chat, groups and community hubs, while the Steam Workshop hosts user-made mods for many games. Big Picture mode provides a controller-friendly interface for TVs, Remote Play streams games to other devices, and on Linux the built-in Proton compatibility layer runs many Windows games. Steam also sells software and soundtracks and holds regular seasonal sales. The same platform powers the Steam Deck handheld, and a companion mobile app handles Steam Guard sign-in codes and store browsing.
