About
PCSX2 is a long-running open-source emulator that plays PlayStation 2 games on a computer. It runs the large majority of the PS2 library from disc images or a physical disc, and can render games at higher internal resolutions than the original console, with optional widescreen patches, texture filtering and save states that let you save anywhere. The current 2.x series uses a modern Qt interface with a game list showing cover art, per-game settings and a controller-friendly Big Picture mode. It offers several graphics back ends (Vulkan, Direct3D 11 and 12, OpenGL, and Metal on Mac) and integrates RetroAchievements. A reasonably capable 64-bit computer is needed, and the emulator requires a BIOS file dumped from your own PlayStation 2.
