About
Firefox is the open-source browser made by Mozilla, whose parent is the non-profit Mozilla Foundation. Unlike most mainstream browsers it runs on its own Gecko engine rather than Chromium, which keeps an independent rendering engine alive on the web. Enhanced Tracking Protection blocks many cross-site and social-media trackers, cryptominers and fingerprinting scripts by default, and Total Cookie Protection keeps each site's cookies in a separate jar. A Mozilla account syncs bookmarks, passwords, history and open tabs with end-to-end encryption. The add-on catalogue includes advanced content blockers, and recent releases added vertical tabs and tab groups. Firefox suits privacy-minded users, web developers who test across engines, and anyone who wants a major browser that is not run by an advertising company. Versions are also available for Android and iOS.
