About
foobar2000 is a freeware audio player by Peter Pawlowski, a former Nullsoft developer who worked on Winamp plug-ins, aimed at listeners who care more about library management and accurate playback than visual flair. Out of the box it offers gapless playback, full ReplayGain support, detailed tag editing, CD ripping and conversion between audio formats, all in a small and fast program. Its defining trait is a component system: the layout, playback features, decoders and DSP effects can be extended with official and third-party add-ons, so setups range from a bare playlist to an elaborate custom interface. It also streams internet radio and can control other network audio players. Besides the main Windows edition, versions are published for macOS, Android and iOS. The program contains no advertising or telemetry and has been free since its first release in 2002.
