About
KeePassXC is a free, open-source password manager for Windows, macOS and Linux, built by a community team as a cross-platform port of KeePass. Passwords, notes and other secrets live in a local database file in the KeePass KDBX format, encrypted at rest, so nothing is stored on the developers' servers and you decide whether to sync the file through a cloud drive, network share or USB stick. It includes a password generator, Auto-Type for filling logins in other programs, a browser extension that also handles passkeys, TOTP two-factor codes, password health reports, SSH agent integration and YubiKey or OnlyKey challenge-response unlocking. Its KDBX files can be opened by compatible third-party apps on phones.
- KeePass-compatible KDBX databases, encrypted at rest
- Browser integration with passkey support
- TOTP codes, Auto-Type and password generator
- YubiKey/OnlyKey challenge-response and SSH agent integration
- Password health reports
Before you download
- No official mobile apps; the project recommends compatible third-party apps such as KeePassDX (Android) and Strongbox (iOS).
- No built-in cloud sync; you sync the database file yourself, for example with Dropbox or Nextcloud.
