About
KeePassXC-Browser is the official browser extension for KeePassXC, the offline password manager. It stores nothing itself: it talks to the KeePassXC desktop app running on the same computer, finds the entries that match the site you are visiting, and fills in your username and password from an icon in the login field. After you submit a form, it offers to add a new entry or update an existing one, and with its passkey option switched on it creates and uses passkeys kept in the same encrypted file. You pair each browser with your database once, under a connection name you choose, and KeePassXC asks before a site may use an entry. It works in Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Tor Browser, and its source code is on GitHub under the GPL.
- Fills logins from your KeePassXC database
- Offers to save new or changed logins
- Creates and uses passkeys (Enable Passkeys option)
- Asks before a site can use an entry
- For Firefox, Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers
Before you download
- Needs the KeePassXC desktop app installed, running and unlocked, with Enable browser integration ticked under Tools → Settings → Browser Integration.
- Desktop browsers only, because it pairs with the KeePassXC app on the same computer.
- On Linux, browsers installed as Flatpak or Snap packages are generally not supported; Ubuntu's Firefox Snap is the known exception.
