The Lantern Moon
The Lantern Moon is the night of each real full moon — the moon nearly all lit, about a day and a half. The Hollow's map says so, and the Spring and the Wheel have boards. Each comes once a full moon; the next one, again.
Lanterns on the Spring
Wen's paper lanterns, for the roshi Anubis took — the names on the Plot's own graves — or for the ones nobody named. Three at most, each folded by the child (how it floats is their craft). Everyone's go out on the same water: the Spring's board counts them, by name only, never whose.
The moonlit race
Old Tam's race by the Wheel: a roshi from the Plot against seven of the Hollow's own (the same seven for everyone that night), over three legs — the meadow, the stream, the hill. Every kind has a leg it likes and one it minds; each leg is run hard, steady or easy, and a roshi out of breath flags. First, second and third take ribbons (moon, star, lantern); the fastest of the night is on the Wheel's board.
And
SPOILER — it says more than the rooms allow. Open it if you're sure.
For those who fed the seed thief: she comes back by moonlight, with her three.
