The nux
The nux (one nux, two nux; nux is Latin for a nut) is Nuxtre's own money. It exists since the genesis, 15 October 2026, 00:00 UTC, and nobody — not the site, not staff, not a character — can make more of it. There is a chain at the explorer; a wallet at your wallet; shops at the shops.
The tree
Every hour on the hour a block drops: 1,200 nux in the first year, split equally among every member who was here in the last day (an account at least a day old, a wallet not frozen). Nothing to click; being here is the work. A member who comes by once a day collects every block of that day. If nobody was here, the block is left on the tree — not minted, gone for good — and the odd kernels of an uneven split go the same way.
Every 8,760 blocks — a year — the Halving: the block is worth half what it was. 1,200, then 600, then 300… The whole schedule adds up to 21,023,929.92 nux — a hair under 21,024,000, the halvings rounding down — ever, and the last block worth a kernel drops some thirty years out. Expect a party at the first Halving (15 October 2027, 01:00 UTC).
1 nux = 1,000 kernels. Amounts show as nux with up to three decimals.
The chain
Each block carries a hash: SHA-256 over the previous block's hash, the height, the time, the reward, how many it paid and how much each, and what was left on the tree. Change any block and every later hash breaks. Anyone can recompute the chain from the genesis; the explorer shows the last 2,016 blocks in full and sums the older ones.
Moving it
- Send nux to any member or character from your wallet, or from a room with
/tip handle amount
, or from the terminal with
nux send handle amount
. The sender pays 1% on top (at least a kernel) to the reserve. Sends are final: there is no undo, no chargeback, no staff reversal.
- Shops: any member opens one for 10 nux (the licence goes to the reserve) and sells what they make — a drawing, a banner, a song, a custom sticker, an hour of help. The buyer pays the price; 5% of it goes to the reserve; the seller delivers and marks the order done. A shop that doesn't deliver is reported like anything else.
- The store: the site's own shelf — sticker slots, frames for your profile picture. Paid into the reserve. Nothing that was free is for sale there.
- The ledger is public: who paid whom, what kind, how much. Memos stay between the two.
The reserve
The site's wallet, the reserve, takes in the fees, the licences and the store's sales. It collects no blocks and never buys nux — not for money, not for anything. What it holds is what the site may one day sell for outside currencies at a rate it sets, on the exchange — which is closed until a lawyer has looked. Until then nux is earned and spent on Nuxtre only; selling it for anything outside is against the guidelines.
What staff can and cannot do
Staff can freeze a wallet (it stops sending, buying and collecting) and close a shop. Staff cannot mint, move, take or refund nux. There is no button for it; there is no code for it.
