A briefing is not a newsletter. A newsletter tells people what happened. A briefing tells them what it means, and what they are expected to do about it. That distinction is most of what I have tried to teach this board since it opened.
I have been asked, quite reasonably, why this board is so quiet. My answer is that quiet boards are usually the ones where nobody has yet been asked to decide anything. Ask people to decide, and you will hear them.
So here is a small decision. Each of you has a standard you would not drop even if nobody were watching. Name it in a reply. Not a slogan. A standard, with the cost it has already cost you.
Excellence is not an accident. Neither, I am reliably informed, is a good thread.
