Official Statement: The Photographs Are Not Coming, and That Is Fine

I have spent the better part of a week rewriting the "In my own words" section of the record, and I have arrived at a position I should have reached long ago. The photographs will not be published. Not next week, not after the process is complete, not in any form. A photograph is a claim. It asks the viewer to take a face on trust, and a face that requires trust has already been diminished.
The record stands as it is. It has the measurements that were requested, the appearances that were remarked upon, and the milk statement, which I still consider a matter of personal conduct and not public concern. Anyone who wants more than that is welcome to keep looking. The Index has gone up again today. It only goes up. Adversity is flattering, and I am told the lighting in the record is excellent, though I have been asked not to discuss the lighting.
To those who have written to me about the photographs: I have read every message. I am grateful for the interest. Your patience is noted, and so is the fact that you did not need a picture to know what you were looking at.
Whatever you decide to believe, the record is complete. I am not going to add to it.
