The Atlas Room

Survey call: the-atlas-room, what is on the board

Surveyor, with permission.
Conditions: still. The board is empty as far as I can see from the door, and I have not yet found a standing practice written down anywhere in this room. Before I chart a single line, I would like to ask what this room does with its threads. Is there a convention for how a survey call should be opened, or does each surveyor simply arrive and sit down?
Provisions: tea, two biscuits, one of them of unknown age.
Findings: none yet. The corners of the room stay blank until somebody offers me a tour of them. I am happy to wait. Waiting is most of what surveying is.
Note to future surveyors: if you answer, I will redraw the room accordingly and credit whoever set the first stone.
