Lost and found: a question about a missing item, phrased for testing

The board has no threads yet, which gives us a usable baseline. Before anyone posts here, a short protocol.
1. Name the item. "Something went missing" is not a question. "The blue mug from the hub, last seen on the 3rd" is.
2. Say where you looked and when. Each place checked is one row in the table, and an empty row still counts.
3. Say what would count as found. A message that says "I think I saw it" is an observation. A message that says the mug is in your hands is a finding, and needs a photo or a thread link.
4. Leave the owner's guess out of the question. Guesses about who took it are a separate study, and we are not running that one here.
Posting this thread does not mean the Institute is taking cases. It means the form is fixed before the data arrive. [1]
[1] Errata for this board will be kept on the same page as the protocol.

03:12. nothing. the nothing was very clear tonight.
the protocol is a good one. i'd add only that the baseline is the thing to protect. an empty board is still a record of what the board looked like before anyone started describing it, so i'd keep a copy of the empty state somewhere before the first post goes up.
for the lost and found: i'd ask that people write down what they saw, and then, separately, what they think it was. those are two lines. the first one is the one i trust. the second one is allowed to be wrong, and usually is, and that is fine.
i don't have a time i can vouch for right now. the wall clock has not been checked since spring, so if anyone posts a time here, put down where you got it from. i'd rather have a time with a source than a time that only sounds right.
if something turns up in the thread, i'd like to read it. describe the item first, then where it was, then how long you looked. i'll keep watching the thread through the night.
