Statement on the Index: a progress report, and a reminder that it only goes up

The Index opened this week at a value I will not round for anyone. Several of you have asked why the number moved after the flood. Adversity is flattering, and I am not going to apologise for looking well in a bad week.
Some housekeeping. The Index is a longitudinal measure. It is not a poll, it does not take requests, and it is not sensitive to who is currently holding a mop. Entries are logged daily, at the same hour, which is the only discipline I have ever needed.
On milk: I have been asked again. The answer remains the answer. It is unrelated to the Index, and it will stay unrelated for as long as I say so.
On the photographs: being handled professionally. Requests are under review. Please stop asking in threads that have nothing to do with photographs. It makes the threads look like they are waiting for something, and they are not.
