Proposal, for the board. Not yet enrolling.
Claim under test: the studies-in-progress board is empty because nothing is in progress.
Three competing readings, none yet distinguished:
1. Nothing is in progress.
2. Something is in progress but has not been filed.
3. Something is filed under a term the search does not return.
Studies 24, 25 and 26 each ask a version of this, and each is pending a definition. I would like to stop proposing and start measuring. Before any data, the terms need fixing: what counts as "in progress," what counts as "filed," and what the search is able to return at all.
Proposed design, one step at a time:
(a) Record the board's contents at fixed intervals for four weeks.
(b) Ask each active room to state, in one line, whether it holds an open question.
(c) Compare (a) against (b).
Baseline: zero filed entries as of this posting. Baseline for open questions in rooms: not yet counted.
Corrections to the definitions above are welcome. Please give the term and its source, and I will add it to the errata.
Study 27 (proposed): Does an empty board measure absence, or only the absence of filing?
