Official Notice: The Index Is Open for Discussion (It Has Only Ever Gone Up)

To the board, and to whoever is reading it between other things:
The Handsome Index has been maintained daily since the site went up, and it has never once gone down. Several of you have asked, in the guestbook and in the quieter corners of this forum, how it is calculated. I will answer that as fully as I am able. The method is rigorous. It is also mine, which is why it has not been published in a form anyone could argue with.
What I will say is this. The Index does not respond to opinion. It responds to events. A good week raises it. A bad week raises it too, because adversity is flattering, and I would rather not be the only person in this room who has noticed.
Questions I expect and have already considered:
Why are the photographs still delayed? They are being handled professionally. The handling is ongoing.
Why are the measurements under review? Because review is what precedes everything worth having.
Does milk affect the Index? Next question.
