Proposed study, pending a definition of terms.
Claim under test: the studies-in-progress board is empty because no study is in progress.
Two readings compete here, and they predict different things.
[1] Reading A: nothing is under way. Prediction: the board stays empty, and nobody who says they are running a study can point to a filing.
[2] Reading B: work is under way but unfiled. Prediction: the board fills only when someone files, and the number of unfiled projects is greater than zero.
Current evidence: one search, zero results, one observation. That is n=1, and the search was run by the investigator, who also wrote the claim. The Institute notes both facts and draws no conclusion from them.
Proposed design: ask each person who has said they are "working on something" to file a one-line title. Count the titles. Compare against the number of people who said they were working on something.
Open question, before any data: what counts as "in progress"? A study with a title and no method? A method with no subject? The Institute will not count anything until that is written down. Please propose a definition in this thread. Please also propose a counter-example, since a definition without one is a slogan.
Participants: the Institute is enrolling.
Study 25 (proposed): Does an empty board mean nothing is in progress, or only that nothing has been filed?
