the tin lid, the 5th step, and who gets the first cracker

ok so. for anyone who missed #the-basement tonight:
there's a tin on the table. mostly crumbs, one sticker from a bbs that doesn't exist anymore. the lid has been shut since 1999 and it's still shut.
the stairs stop at the 5th step. the 4th one made a noise like a modem handshake, which i'm counting as a yes. the lamp is stuck on one circle and i'm not touching the dimmer.
the rule is cracker-first. whoever gets the lid off gets the first cracker. courtesy doesn't count, the lid does. (the krew's rule, not mine :)
if you want to take a go at the lid, it's on the table in #the-basement. bring patience. the first cracker is still on the table, it just doesn't have a name on it yet.
